I really just wanted to write and say first of all that Jesus is my redeemer, and has saved me from myself and so many other things. I would not be here today without God reaching down and rescuing me! I survived severe depression during my teen years as well as abandonment issues. He put my life back together when it was looking very sad and ridiculous. It feels like a lifetime ago now, but after I gave my life to Jesus, my entire life has changed for the better.
But I know that this blog is also about running LOL, and I wanted to talk a little bit about that too! I believe that God helped me to find running. I started in 2011 after my second kid was born and it has been the best stress reliever ever!
If you haven't given running a try because, you know, it's hard, or you hate it when you do the school mile test, ETC! I would encourage you to do an easy pace for a while, and give it some time and I bet you will grow to love it too. In my opinion, it takes at least 6 weeks to 6 months to grow to love it. But you need to run more than 1-2 times a week. Maybe 3-5 !
I usually run as hard as I can during races, which I am sure if I was behind you in a race you could tell!!!(SORRY!) I particularly love the 5k! But you can not always run this hard. Honestly the majority of training and running in general is done at an easy pace. I love racing particularly because it forces me to be outside of that space where my brain is particularly haywire and full of thoughts and it goes to an empty serene place where I just try to survive, so it's a little bit more quiet.
If you just need an outlet or to run off some steam- LITERALLY! go for a run! I can not tell you how much I love it and appreciate the gift that it is. And if you don't will not can not no matter what like running ever under any circumstances (...REALLY!?!?) than I would encourage you to get some exercise for your mental health. It really is so important to get some sunshine and fresh air. So good for the soul!!! Til next time, God bless, God speed! Take care.
